Coordinate dimension without arrows.

Hi.
I wonder how I dimensioned as I attached.
I don't remember if there is any lisp tool to do this.
The standard coordinate dimension tool has arrows from origin.
And I could not get rid of them.

Anyone could tell me how one can dimension like the one attached?

Thank you.

Re: Coordinate dimension without arrows.

Toshi

Check your settings for coordinate dimensioning. Mine is set to none and I get coordinate dimensioning as you show in your example.

Re: Coordinate dimension without arrows.

Thank you, Tom.
I now can get rid of the arrows.

Besides, I don't get Zero line when I set it to none.
DIN setting will give zero line to me, so I did a workaround to get both zero and normal coordinate line as shown.
But it's tedious...

Do you have any idea how to get zero line without arrow?

Thank you again.

Re: Coordinate dimension without arrows.

Hi Toshi,

One easy way to get around this limitation is to set your reference point in a different location from the zero point (i.e. not on the side you're dimensioning). When you do this, you will need to specify which direction you want to use for the dimensioning, since Annotation will (usually) not pick the right one (which makes sense because the reference point is in a different location), but that's easy to do with the right-click option.

Here's a 40-second video I threw together to illustrate this idea:

http://www.asp-inno.com/Video/CoordDims/

There may be better ways to do it, but this is an easy one, and it works!

Does this help?

Re: Coordinate dimension without arrows.

There is an even easier way to handle this situation.

fist look at this thread.

http://www.cocreateusers.org/forum/showthread.php?t=4615&highlight=put+dim

"Put dim in" will allow you to continue addint coordinate dimensions to existing coord dimensions without having to reselect your zero.

Re: Coordinate dimension without arrows.

Thanks, Tom -- I believe I knew about that once (probably from that thread), but I had forgotten about it! That's definitely the best way to add new dimensions to an existing set...

So now we know of at least 2 ways to address the issue!

As a side note, when creating coord dims the first time, if you want the zero point but don't want to use the right-click option and don't want to use the "put dim in" command after you have placed all the other dimensions, you can create custom buttons for vertical and horizontal coord dims by assigning the command "am_create_dim_coord :vertical" and "am_create_dim_coord :horizontal" to the buttons. Then you just click the button for the command you want and pick the reference point not in line with the edge you're dimensioning (as mentioned previously). This is basically a shortcut that eliminates the need for the right-click action.

One thing to note when doing this is that after you pick your reference point, it's a good idea to pick a point other than the zero point first -- otherwise Annotation (sometimes!) will override your :vertical or :horizontal specification and pick the one it thinks makes sense.

In any case, there are multiple ways to solve this issue!

Re: Coordinate dimension without arrows.

Actually, I haven't checked Tom's yet. Sorry being lazy, Tom.

Currently I needed to work on ME10, not annotation, because our firm's official CAD is still ME10.
And I am not capable of handling it, at all, yet.

So, I need to learn "Classical GUI" as well as 2D designing.
What a shame!

Anyway, I can draw 2D drawing more efficiently using annotation than ME10. And office guys don't want to be that way.

What a shame, again!

Thank you for your updates, Andy. I definitely will look into Tom's thread.

Best regards.
