Modeling performance in Webex meetings?
We frequently review our 3-D designs with clients via Webex Meeting Center online meetings. We typically find that at some point during the meeting the performance of our modeling session gets very bad. Dynamic viewing of the model becomes virtually impossible, with a multiple-second lag time. If we stop screen sharing, performance goes back to normal.
Does anyone else use Modeling and Webex together? If so, have you experienced this problem? I'm going to work on following up with Webex and PTC and see if we can resolve, but I'm wondering whether anyone else has been down this road before? Thanks, Dan Canfield Andrews-Cooper Technology |

Re: Modeling performance in Webex meetings?
We see the problem in XP and Win7, across several different graphics cards and Modeling versions 16.5 and 17.0.
Seems that it might be related to the mouse...switching to a Spaceball gets rid of the problem.

Re: Modeling performance in Webex meetings?
Hi Dan,
We have used WebEx with customers on occasion and have only seen the problems you describe once in a while, but not to the extent that you describe. We generally use GoToMeeting to do web demos and webinars for our add-in products, and haven't seen any issues with performance...

Re: Modeling performance in Webex meetings?
Much of the problems with WebEx and the CAD graphics deals with the graphics card not being OpenGL compliant. For the Nvidia product line, look at a Quadro 2000/FX 1800 or better Quadro card.
Also, to enhance the performance and reduce the multi-second lag time on an Nvidia card, turn the hyper-threading to OFF.
