Catia and model manager

We use catia V5 for mech drawing and autocad for electrical.
But we have to go into model manager to have a product structure and also have the same data put into sap so they can buy stuff,

Is there no way of taking a Cat model file and having model manager pick out the parts in the BoM. At the moment the data is being taken off the drawing face and manually added to model manager but with over 500 drawing this is somewhat slow process, at the moment only new mods will have there darawings and parts added.

so in the meantime as it could take 2 years to add all the drawing and parts so it's been suggested the family tree be drawn in spreadsheet to control which drawing affects which Mod package so just a quick fix of what model manager would do.

If you can't go direct into model manager could you go through pro/engineer which does have plug ins to accept Cat models would this work ? what would it cost ?

Re: Catia and model manager

Windchill will manage Catia, autocad, cocreate (finally!). Windchill will let you create one product structure that contains "parts" from all three cad systems. Model Manager is not going to be around forever.

Re: Catia and model manager

If I understand correctly, you may be able to load the Catia file into Modeling (if you have the data interface module, and if you are able to save your Catia files as v4), then you can have ModelManager build the BoM based on the model in Modeling.
