Model Manager and Web Services

Has anyone been able to successfully use Web Services via perl and SOAP? We would like to be able to do this, but would certainly like to leverage what we can as well.

Re: Model Manager and Web Services

I have been able to use the MM web services, although I have been doing this via C# and SOAP. I have exp. with Perl, but not "perl using SOAP" - I am sure you can do it - probably a perl module out there you can add to facilitate SOAP communication pretty easily...

be aware that some of the "advertised" MM web services methods don't really "work". For instance...there is an update() type method which one would hope would allow you to change the state of a drawing, for instance...

but once you try this, you realize that there is no back end event handler on the server side to handle the action...you'll need to write your own custom handlers (in java) on the server side to receive your request from

Re: Model Manager and Web Services

Model Managers web services underwent a large change at 18.0 to make them easy to extend and use.

The new web services are faster (using paged queries), use less memory (smaller lighter Jetty server), more reliable and generally easy to use.

We now have example on how to add new services to do whatever you need.

We test using Java, C# and Python but haven’t tried Perl.

Re: Model Manager and Web Services

I'm interested in seeing some examples - where can I find them?

We've lost control of part numbering to our ERP system, IFS, so saving parts from Modeling to ModelManager is a bit of a pain with a bunch redundant typing and/or copy pasting. I'm hoping to use web services to send part description, etc to IFS, have it create the part in IFS, and return a part number to ModelManager.

Has anyone done something similar?

Thanks
