High Performance Laptop Suggestions?
Does anyone have a suggestion for a good high performance laptop for running Modeling? I searched the forum but most of the information about selecting hardware is pretty dated. I did some searching and found some HP and Dell models listed below which look promising, but it would be helpful to have feedback from people who are actually using a laptop to work with large models in Modeling.
HP laptops 8510w - 15.4 inch display, NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M or ATI Mobility FireGL V5600 8710w - 17 inch display, NVIDIA Quadro FX 1600M Dell Precision laptops M4300 - 15.4 inch display, NVIDIA Quadro FX 360M M6300 - 17 inch display, NVIDIA Quadro FX 1600M

Re: High Performance Laptop Suggestions?
John,
I've been using the Dell Precisions for the last several years. I am currently using an M90. These are solid machines and very reliable. They are made for 3D CAD and it sure runs great on it. They are a bit big and bulky though. Paul |

Re: High Performance Laptop Suggestions?
We just got a Dell M6300 about a week ago. Haven't had much time to spend on it. Seems to run OSM 15.5 just fine. Wasn't sure about the glossy screen, but after using it some it wasn't that bad.

Re: High Performance Laptop Suggestions?
We have had good luck with the Dell Precision series laptops.
They are designed for 3D CAD applications. Most come with supported graphics cards. Avoid systems that are not listed by the manufacturer as a "workstation" The HP systems model designations for workstations used to end with a "W" I see the T7400 is a workstation, but does not have the "W" designation.
