Noob Questions...

To not make a plenty of topics, I'll put all my questions here

How can I make a truncation?

Also, how to separate a part into 2 parts? (With not a straight line)

Lightbulb Re: Noob Questions...

Can you post an image of your splitting a part into two example so we can understand your final intentions?

Re: Noob Questions...

What is a "truncation" in this context?

You can separate a part into two parts using Machine/Section.

For the tool you can use any closed 2D workplane geometry. Imagine the 2D geometry is like a hot wire slicing through butter along a direction. See the attached GIF which shows a block sliced into two parts.

You can also use a face, part, or face part as the tool if you don't want a straight cut along a directions. Open the Machine/Section dialog and click the ? button for an example and more details.

Re: Noob Questions...

For the 2D, where what button do I take for making the lines?
And, in Tool, what do I need To write?

Sorry it's just that I'm absolutely a beginner so I know about nothing...

Re: Noob Questions...

You should have a toolbar to the left of the viewport with buttons that can be used to create 2D geometry (they look like a polygon, rectangle, circle, spline). You can also open the Create 2D menu from the toolbar on the right.

If you don't know how to make 2D lines then you need to work through some tutorials. From Modeling click Help/Quick Start Projects. Click the Index button and start with the tutorial at the top and work your way down. A little training can eliminate a lot of frustration.

You might also check out this this post which has links to lots of good getting started info.

You don't need to write anything in Tool, you click the Tool button then select the workplane or face or part or face part that you want to use as the tool to section the part you want to cut.

Thumbs up Re: Noob Questions...

To learn how to be productive with creating 2D profiles on the workplane, watch these to videos first and then report back and let us know what you think. And for some of these online demos/videos (with audio), you will need to register online with PTC before you can watch them.
