Runtime Error
Hi all,
I have recently upgraded my system to a 64 bit Windows 7 machine. I have been using Onespace (64bit) successfully for about a week, while occasionally getting a runtime error that crashes the program quite suddenly. I figured out what causes the error. It happens when I select a dropdown from the menu (such as file, edit, view, etc...) and then mouse over to another dropdown. It typically crashes on the third such selection. I get the following error: Runtime Error! This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information. Any thoughts? I have reinstalled once and have used the SFC tool in the console to check the registry. Thanks! David |

Re: Runtime Error
Ah...Onespace 2008! Unfortunately we need to save down to 15.5 so I can't use 17...

Re: Runtime Error
CoCreate Modeling Version 17.0 is the first version that is supported on the Windows 7 operating system. Earlier versions are not supported.
For the most part, earlier versions of CoCreate Modeling may install and run on Windows 7, but there can be all sorts of issues. I would not be surprised at the error you are reporting. There are two resolutions and you already rejected one of them. The other, is to redo your system to run Vista 64, or XP-64. |

Re: Runtime Error
Kind of a long shot, but you might try upgrading the graphics drivers. We have seen some odd issues caused by driver bugs over the years. If you not using a laptop and installed a driver provided by the video card maker, you might try using a reference driver from the graphics chip maker (nVIDIA or ATI). For laptops you typically must get the drivers from the maker of the laptop.

Re: Runtime Error
I was having no problems running Modeling 2008x64 on Windows 7 x64, but I was having problems with Annotator 2008x64, so I moved to Modeling/Anno 2008x32 and everything has been fine.

There is another option to try.

Re: Runtime Error
Thanks everybody. I am running the most up-to-date graphics drivers from HP (laptop manufacturer) but not the most recent from nvidia--unable to install.
So I've switched to 17.0, if I need to save out in 15 I can always open up 2008 and save accordingly. 17.0 still crashing out multiple times in a day... One is definitely a graphics driver problem (trying to make a clipping causes the OpenGL driver to lose connection with the display driver). Others appear to be Windows crashes... Pretty frustrating to crash out regularly...still working on the drivers... |

Re: Runtime Error
Ah, thanks!
Unable to install the recommended driver (32bit installer on a 64bit system, had to quit...strange because I downloaded the proper 64 bit driver...), but I found the closest one I could get. Success! Clippings show me things I couldn't see before like a DREAM. No lag, I could spin a complicated clipping all day! Still have a runtime error in 2008, but whatever I think I dig 17.0... |

Re: Runtime Error
Gary L.
I am unable to save from Annotator to WorkManager. When I click the save button, the screen flashes as it creates the thumbnail, then does a weird overlapped image (attached), then hangs and I have to close Anno to recover. |

Re: Runtime Error
I have seen behavior similar to this before. The default thumbnail size is 500 x 500.
If the thumbnail is something else, change it back to 500 x 500 and see if this helps. The issue with hanging up was supposed to have been fixed in 17. Let me know if this fixes it or not. Regards Tom

Re: Runtime Error
I think I changed thmbnl to 500x500, but it still behaves the same. I seem to be setting the thumbnail size is several files - how do I query the active setting in Anno?

Re: Runtime Error
That seems to rule out the thumbnail issue.
Does modeling save ok? Are your permissions set correctly for the temp directory? Tom
