Hi Andrea,

I believe you're asking if it's possible to un-compile a .dll file into the original .lsp file (if I misunderstood please let me know!).

It is not possible to do this since the compiling process is one-way only. This means that the the .dll file is only readable by the computer, and doesn't contain the original source. As a result, it is not possible to "unconvert" the .dll file to a .lsp file; note that it is also not possible to take a .exe file and "unconvert" it to its original source code.

The ability to compile souce code into .dll files is a good thing for the OSDM community, as it allows developers for OSDM to protect their development efforts and distribute applications without exposing their source code (just as developers for Windows applications typically only distribute the .exe file to hide their source code). There would not be much of a market for add-in applications without some means of protecting them from unauthorized use and/or modification.

I hope this helps!

Best regards,

andy
