Print to clipboard

Hello to everybody.
I use a macro to redirect the print output to the clipboard.

With the command:
PLOTTER_TYPE "MSWINDOW_EMF_CLIPBOARD"

and dimension the clipboard with
(CLIPBOARD_SIZE) (USRW) (USRH)

where userw and usrh are the dimension of the clipboard.
Then click on the printer icon to send to clipboard. Then you can paste the drawing in a word document. It is OK also for the 2Daccess (viewer) version.

I use 2D Designer Drafting ver. 11.60.

This sequence works fine in a NT4 system but doesn’t work in a WIN98 system. Any idea?

Thanks in advance. GiorgioL

How does it fail under Windows 98? Is it the print to clipboard step or the paste into Word step? Have you opened the clipboard to verify it is empty before trying to paste into Word?

The success with the Word paste can depend on the version used. For older versions the normal paste would work. For newer versions you usually need to use Paste Special then select the format that you want to paste.

Version 11.6 provides a way to print to the clipboard without using a macro. After opening the Print form, you should see a printer name "MSWINDOW_EMF_CLIPBOARD" at the bottom of your printer Name: list. Unfortunately there still doesn't seem to be any way to set the clipboard size from the UI, so you may need to enter a command for that. I posted an Enhancement Request for this, but it has only received one star in the voting. If you would like to see this added, click the link above to go to the thread and vote.

In WIN98 if you size the clipboard to A4 format (210 x 297 mm) you will get a correct result . If you size the clipboard to A3 or A0 format you will get a mirrored result .

I hope it is more clear now.

That's pretty bizarre. I don't have access to any Windows 98 PCs, so cannot verify this. Hopefully someone from CoCreate can respond. If you have access to CoCreate support and do not get an answer here, I would report it to them. Sounds like a defect.

Thanks for adding the post to my enhancement request, but to vote you should veiw the thread and use the "Rate This Thread" drop down menu at the bottom to give it whatever rating you think it deserves. One star is lowest priority, 5 stars is highest.

Part of the problem might be that windows 98 is not a supported system.
From the website:
Supported Operating System
Windows XP
Windows 2000
Windows NT 4.0
HP-UX 11.0/11.i

Gary.

Exclamation

Thanks John and Gary.
I downloaded the datasheet from cocreate website where I find out the last system requirement.

Then I found out this webpage:

http://www.cocreate.com/osdd/osdd_win.html

where there is a table with the requirement of ME10 (I prefer use ME10 instead the last high-sounding name) Vs version and you can see that WIN98 is disappeared in 11.60 version.

Thanks a lot for the help. Regards. GiorgioL.
