Problem for legacy data( .SD files)

Hi guys, We are facing a serious problem for .SD files that we have. Actually we are making a application on SD using Integration KIT.In that we save all items in VP and extracts saved file from save Location/directory. BUT real problem appears here that,on saving of .SD file SD creates a .sdp file and a .SD file. But our application looks only for .sdp and .sdpc files and hence we couldnt get content file(in .sdpc format) for our .SD files. so now we want to identify the loaded file(want to scan through all items in VP) if it is type of .SD file and then we'll have to do some operation on that so on saving, it should give us content file name with .sdpc format. And all the operations,we want to do with commands only as we want to implement it in our application. we are really stuck into the problem.Looking for expert help.we'll be very thankful to you if you can suggest us some solution. thanks a lot in advance. ~Himanshu

Himanshu,

I'm not sure wether I really got your point. However, did you try to assign contents ids (part & assy menu)? In 3D filing, filenames are derived from contents ids if present. Maybe that could help.

After all, it doesn't sound like a good idea to me when you try conclude the object type from the filename. In most cases that could work - but what if a user specifies a filename within the save dialog that doesn't follow your rules?
For example, you can name a part file "my_part.foo" and OSDM will still load it.
