Question Moving license over to new machine?

HELP!
I'm running CoCreate (OSD) Drafting version 13 (2005, I believe) with 2 licenses, the server's (on another machine) and mine. We need to move the server license over to a new machine. I do not think we will be able purchase upgrade or pay for support to get new passwords. Is there a way to move them over?
We loaded the program and are able to get EVALUATION MODE on the new computer while the older one is still enabled, but that's as far as we get. We do not want to lose the system already running.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks, Mal

Re: Moving license over to new machine?

Are you using a dongle/MSU device?

Re: Moving license over to new machine?

Drafting will always start up in evaluation mode if it cannot find a license so that doesn't really represent any progress.

MEls licenses are usually tied to a hardware ID, typically the MAC address of a network adapter although they can also be tied to a serial hardware device called a MSU dongle. Since you are asking I would guess that you don't have a MSU dongle because that is easy to move to a new server.

If the MAC address is attached to a network adapter that can be moved to the new server then you should be able to move the licenses. For example a removable LAN or wireless card. If it is attached to a network adapter integrated into the motherboard then you will have to contact PTC to move the licenses to a new hardware ID. I don't know if they will do that for a fee or require paying back support.

I would recommend that you move the licenses to the MAC address of a removal network adapter such as USB wireless or something like that. This will make it easy to move in the future.

We found out the licenses are tied to the hardware ID and I believe they may be integrated into motherboard.

In the US, you can contact PTC Customer care @ (877) 275-4782.
They can help you with a license transfer. (even though you do not have a current support contract).

Yes!
We tried John's suggestions, but to no avail... We did end up calling PTC and they were VERY helpful in asssisting us resolve our issues with the license server (and free as far as I can tell). We still have a few bugs to work out and I think we will soon be back on our way.
Thank you again for the advice. And thanks to PTC.
