Stamp Function of Sheet metal
Hi !
When design sheet metal parts, reinforcement problem always under consideration of both planar strangth and bending ribs, but it's a pity that this fuction did not appeard in sheet metal model. (see attached jpg file) And stamping could be any shape any size, if every time meet diffrent shape of stamping all have to rebuild a lisp program to achief that needs, isn't was low efficiency? Is there any better, simpler, faster way to make various different shape of stamping? |

Re: Stamp Function of Sheet metal
The best way is I think to create/difine standard 3D model(Sub parts) for function and just merge this kind of sub parts as your will, but this do need a lot pre-works and experience.

Re: Stamp Function of Sheet metal
Yes, it is possible to make some standard tabs, darts, dimples, ... as generic parts. Then inport then, position them and tweak to your liking. Finally join the item to your main part.
Also, make a generic hole coining sub-part to add later as well. You can have a part library of various dart sizes and sheet thicknesses. Tabs with or without holes is rather simple in one or two files. However, a T-slot punch on a tab would be another option to have in a sub-part too. If you have a punch machine, meassure the punch sizes and make a family of the geometries you will need.
