Plotting and Printing using Annotation
Printing and plotting various drawings from A0 to A4, some landscape and some Portrait, to more than one print/plot device! Are we alone in finding this process more and more frustrating with each new release of OSD – Annotation? Is there a simple answer? Are we missing the point?
Back in the good old days of an old DOS based Cad system, and using Novell, - the Nprint command, surrounded by some simple logic, coped faultlessly with any combination of requirements. A single button press could activate this – even for sets of drawings. Now we use Windows, with it’s requirement of many mouse clicks to get a single print/plot. We have made use of the Annotation functionality to put a string of commands under one button to print the current drawing. This only worked when the ‘default’ printer was the desired output device. This method has been foiled by the introduction in ver 11.5 of ‘remembered’ printers – independent of the ‘default’ printer. We can’t seem to get around this one! We have also used the AutoPlot routine developed by Definitive Applications – (now CSI). This used to work reasonably well - coping with batch plotting to any of several devises - as well as one button press to print/plot the active drawing. It became more and more difficult to get this to work with each new release – it does not work at all with ver 11.5 – ‘remembered’ last printer again! CSI have now pulled out from developing AutoPlot – too difficult/costly to do under Windows! Every designer using a modern CAD system will surely need to at some time print/plot a variety of sized (A0-A4) drawings to a plotter or printer. Why does this act have to be so difficult? We are almost at the stage of saying that it will take 1 week to design and 2 weeks to print! Does anybody have the answer? Regards Paul. Last edited by gmatelich; 04-01-2003 at 06:13 PM. |

re: Plotting and Printing using Annotation
Hi,
I'm not an expert in plotting, but I know it's possible to "batch" plotting .mi file with ME10 in windows. That may not work in Annotation, but with the file on the disk. If you put the file in a folder with an already define "plot environment", you can right-clic on the file than print. That will take you settings. In the environment, it's possible to choose pretty much the same thing than what you can select when you print. Please call your support about that. Michel |
