get coordinates and rotations of coordinate system in Lisp??

Hi,

suppose I would add a coordinate system to each part in an assembly (automatically, with Lisp).
Is it possible to inquire the x, y, z coordinates an the 3 rotation angles of each coordinate system in Lisp?? I searched the help files, but couldn't find something :-(
The reason is that we may need to convert a number of large assies to Pro/E, and we do a lot of re-use of parts. If I just convert the assies, I'll probably end up with a lot of "double parts" in the Pro/E database... so if I'd add a coordinate system in OSD first, then create a "BOM list with positions" with a lisp macro, I may be able to re-build the assies in Pro/E based on this position list and all (converted) models...
Thanks!
Regards,
Jaap

So (sd-inq-coord-sys-elem) isn't sufficient in this case?

Yes, that's what I need!!! Thanks :-)
Is it a "newer" function?? Couldn't find it in the old (OSD 11) html help... I still use that often because I can search it more easily.

Jaap

Re: get coordinates and rotations of coordinate system in Lisp??

I guess it's been there ever since we introduced coordinate systems in the product

It's pretty simple to unpack the compiled HTML help files (.chm) into HTML files so that they become searchable. See, for example, http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms669985(VS.85).aspx

Thanks for the tip! Very handy. I also used file search in previous versions to find info in the Modeling help and missed that option after the Help was compiled.

For those who want to try it...
  1. Open the link from Claus and download the htmlhelp.exe file.
  2. Run the file to install HTML Help Workshop.
  3. Find the compiled Help files OSDMhelp.chm (main help) and OSDM_CommonDoc.chm (Integration Kit, goodies, misc) on your PC. A typical path for 2008 would be simlar to: C:\Program Files\CoCreate\CoCreate Modeling 2008\help\osdm\HtmlHelp\language\
  4. Create a new empty destination folder for each help file you wish to decompile.
  5. From Start Programs open the HTML Help Workshop.
  6. Click File, Decompile...
  7. Use the Browse buttons to set the Destination folder: and Compiled help file: (*.chm file) then click OK.

Similar tools:
Some of them can be run from the command line, so you can write yourself a small batch file which decompiles all Modeling help files whenever you install a new release.

Cheers,

Claus

Thumbs up Re: get coordinates and rotations of coordinate system in Lisp??

I'm using CHM Decoder from Gridin Soft since the very 1st version of Modeling with the CHM files.
