How does one save to an STL that actually will import into other programs?

That's basically it. In my last "How does one... revolve..." post, I managed to revolve a polyline imported as a 2D dwg, copied and pasted onto the workplane. I saved the entire drawing as an STL. I selected "All" for the drawing entities.

I went to Blender to import it. It wouldn't.

CoCreate problem or Blender problem? If CoCreate, what?

Thank you,

Dr. C.

STL data is not generated from the actual Mathmatical CAD data. It comes from the faceted view you see on your screen. This is why STL is the only export type allowed by Creo Elements Direct Personal Edition.
Keep in mind that Personal Edition is basically free software to allow people to see the power of Direct Modeling.
There are some programs that will allow you to import STL, but in reality, the accuracy is not there.

Then essentially the problem is not that CoCreate is not writing the STL in a readable script, it is likely that Blender is not reading it?

Without knowing a thing about Blender........
Yes.

If you want to check to see what you saved, download an STL viewer.
(HINT: Google "free stl viewer")
