HPUX CoCreate Manager Server v16 Database charset, UTF8

We have used HPUX as our database server of CoCreate Manager Server, v16. Unfortunately, document does not mention or never support UTF8 charset in CoCreate Manager Server v16. I am wondering any workaround to configure CoCreate Manager Server v16, Charset to UTF8 in HPUX?

The reason I asked these is because Model Manager v16 has enforced compatibility check of unicode client with unicode database before allowing you to logon to Model Manager client. We have many japanese users in Japanese OS and US/Europe users in English OS. So, the best approach is to set unicode charset database.

Any advices are highly appreciated!

Re: HPUX CoCreate Manager Server v16 Database charset, UTF8

Hi Teh,
The HPUX database server cannot handle UTF8 characters and therefore is not supported when connected to a UTF8 database.
The Windows database server is supported when connected to a UTF8 database. Therefore if you wanted a UTF8 database you will need to use a Windows database server. It is supported to connect a Windows database server to a remote database which is using UTF8. This database can be on any plaform supported by Oracle, as the actual connection from the CoCreate database server will be done using Oracle Net Services.
If you are considering changing from the current ISO88591 or ROMAN8 database to UTF8, carefully consider all process which must interact with the database, including drawing files, which may have used characters which are not compatible with UTF8. YOu can contact the PTC GSO for more information about this process - mgb
