Re: Right Click Translation to DXF, IGES, etc.
MDI = Microsoft Document Image, sorta like MS's version of PDF but probably not as common nor works across platforms.

Re: Right Click Translation to DXF, IGES, etc.
The DXF translator will not work with compressed MI files if run outside of Drafting. When you load the files into Drafting they are uncompressed as part of the load process so can then be saved as DXF. If you want to set up a way to right click on compressed MI files and translate them, you would need to either run Drafting as a background process to load and save the files as DXF, or uncompress the files outside of Drafting then run dxfdwg.exe on them. How you uncompress depends on how old they are and how they were compressed. Here are two links that may help.
Compressed MI Format Decompress bi-files

I received this question by Private Message. Posting the question and reply here in case others have suggestions.

If you don't see the "Translate ..." option which you right click a *.mi file, then your File Type setup did not take. Open the File Type setup forms and make sure the options are there.
