Plot Directory

Hi all,

New system...still working out the kinks...

I always plot pdfs of my prints. Previously (Windows Vista 32bit, Cocreate 2008) the browse button automatically browsed my current working directory in Cocreate (from where I loaded my 3d, or where I last saved). Now (Cocreate 17.0, Windows 7 64bit), the browse button always opens up my system's temp folder: Username\AppData\Local\Temp. Needless to say, navigating to my working directory every time is tedious...

I have tried to change the directory in the plot settings which has no effect. I am not sure if this is a windows setting or a CoCreate setting. Any advice or direction would be appreciated.

David

Re: Plot Directory

Sounds like you have your save to persistent settings turned off.

Mine always goes to the last directory that was saved/loaded from.
When I start, it's looking to my last used directory. That's with 17 and windows 7 64 bit.

Check "Edit > Settings > System Settings". Then look under the save tab.

Re: Plot Directory

Have you tried the Default Style setting for Plot under the Miscellaneous section in Default Settings?

Re: Plot Directory

I reported this problem to CoCreate support in Dec 2010 and it has been entered as a defect. I don't think it has been fixed yet but there are some workarounds.

The folder that opens by default can by modified by setting a Windows environment variable named METMPDIR to the full path you want to use for temporary files. You can set it to a path that is closer to where you typically save your PDF files.

The following may help remember the the previous path during a session.
  1. Open the Defaults Setting browser (Edit/Settings/Default Settings)
  2. Open Miscellaneous/Default Style Behavior/Plot (click the plus signs)
  3. Double click on Plot under the Setting column
  4. Change the Value to From Dialog
  5. Close the Select window and the Default Settings window.
Here are some other workarounds suggested by CoCreate support.

1. Browse to the folder where you want to save your file and put your name in. The next one to be printed still has that path and name in the browse line like this: C:/mypath/myfile.pdf

You can just highlight and change the filename like this: C:/mypath/yourfile.pdf

2. Save the location where you’re saving your PDF files by right clicking in the “look in” and then selecting Add current. This will allow you to right click in the “look in” when you open the browser and select the proper folder for the PDF file to be saved in.

Re: Plot Directory

I feel validated, thanks! I will try the workarounds next time I'm plotting prints.
